Erie, Pennsylvania – The Erie BayHawks selected Anthony Brown with the first overall pick in today’s NBA Development League Draft.
Brown, who plays both forward and guard, spent the 2015-16 season with the Los Angeles Lakers after being selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. His season included several assignments to the Lakers’ D-League affiliate, the Los Angeles D-Fenders. He appeared in 29 games for the Lakers, including 11 starts, while averaging 3.9 points and 2.4 points. He was waived on October 24.
Prior to his season in Los Angeles, Brown played for the Stanford Cardinal. He was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team in 2010-11 while appearing in 30 games. As a sophomore, Brown appeared in 37 games, making 21 starts while averaging 8.1 points in 4.0 rebounds per game and helped the Cardinal make a five-game run in the NIT Tournament. Brown’s junior year was cut short by a hip injury in the 2012-13 season. He came back in 2013-14 and was named the Pac-12 Most Improved Player while starting 35 of 36 games. Brown had his most successful season in his senior campaign, posting career highs of 14.8 points and 6.9 rebounds. His strong play earned him an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention denotation and he was recognized as a Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year finalist.
The BayHawks have five selections remaining in this year’s draft.
The BayHawks begin the season on November 12 when they take on the Windy City Bulls at Erie Insurance Arena. Tickets are available here or by calling 814-790-5600.
